Logan, Utah is our next destination. It's starting to warm up again. This is one of the cities we put on the agenda so that didn't have to spend hour after hour driving in the car. After the ten hour days in Yellowstone, this would be a welcome break.
We looked for an activity to do in and around Logan and found a 3 mile round trip hike to Wind Cave. At lunch at Elements along the Logan River our overly attentive waiter, Garrett, confirmed that it was a nice hike. Yeah, he lied. The food was really good though.
You park on the side of the highway and trek into the woods on a series of switchbacks that lead you up a 1,000 foot elevation change into the hills. It was an exhausting hour and fifteen minute hike almost straight up on a rocky twisty path so small, you had to balance on the steep slope or find an extra ounce of land to stand on to let those coming back down by. 
We met a family on the way down who saw the sweaty looks on our faces and said we weren't that far away and that it was indeed worth it. We continued all the way up and found the section known as the Witch's Castle. The limestone had been eroded by water into a delicate triple arch. We had to be careful next to the edges because there aren't any railings to hold you back. We saw a few people venturing out beyond the cave on a strip of land that looked barely wide enough to step on. We held back from that.
It took another hour just to get back down to the road.
