Day 15

Moab. Ever heard of it? The only reference I had before today was my SIL had adopted her golden retriever from here so she named it Moab. Beautiful dog, btw. I was not prepared for the absolutely stunning red rock vistas before me. The highway wove through these gorgeous vistas towering above us from both sides.

We arrived  a bit early and decided to take the Colorado River Loop Drive out past mile marker 21. Not knowing that the horseback riding excursion we booked was going to be right off the road at this point. The Hauer Ranch is set way back off the highway on a bumpy dirt road. Our guide for the sunset trek, Tiara, had such a great personality and she really knew the area. She loaded us up on our horses, Biscuit and Deuce, and led us out towards Fisher Towers.

The ride was easy with absolutely NO trotting. The horses were a bit ornery though. Here's G yelling at Deuce to stop eating everything in sight.

We rode through washes, gullies, and up a few ridges. Nothing too hard. Tiara pointed out some great formations and gave us all the low down on filming locations  such as John Wayne's Commanche, Billy Crystal's City Slickers, and even the plateau where they filmed Bon Jovi's music video for Young Guns.

It was a great ride as evidenced by G's smile.
